The BMBF-Research group „Bioeconomy and Inequalities“ organises a workshop about Bioeconomy in Argentina and Brazil. The discussion analayses the extent to which recent changes from progressive to neoliberal politics in both countries affect current developments in the bioeconomy. This includes the promotion of agro-industrial models, as well as the liberalisation of energy- and trade policies.
The starting point for the discussion will consist of two presentations. Ariel Gracía, researcher at the University of Buenos Aires, will talk about state capacity building in the rural sector of Argentina. Fabricio Rodríguez, researcher at the University of Jena, will speak about trade relations between China and Brazil and their relevance for current discussions on the bioeconomy.
