The Symposium brought together 15 Chinese scholars and different researchers from Southeast Asia, North and Latin America, Russia and Europe. The foci of the discussion were the changing political and economic relationship between China and the EU as well as its implications for a potentially new positioning of the Global South. The contributions dealt with the political, economic, and ecological challenges of the Belt and Road Initiative while questioning the emergence of new forms of cooperation and conflict in North-South and South-South relations. This event was organized in cooperation with the Chinese Think Tank Research & Evaluation Centre (CTTREC) at Nanjing University and the Arnold Bergstraesser Institute in Freiburg.
